Wish you were there? A thought we all share when scrolling social media. Hate-liking social media pictures; green with envy at those ‘influencers’ who are never home? How do they afford to go away trip after trip? Why can’t I do this? With Skyscanner, you can!
I’ve found myself in this position more often than not. However I realise that in the real world, funding any type of trip and planning the ins and outs is not as easy as 1,2,3.
The top three questions constantly on everyone’s mind when looking to travel. Where do I go? When do I go? Can I afford it?

Skyscanner essentially is a price comparison site for flights worldwide. The beauty of it is, you don’t even need to know where you want to go! As I have done with my last few trips…leave it to the travel Gods. Just this year, my trips to; Canada, Northern Ireland, Thailand and Vietnam have all been down to finding the cheapest destination via Skyscanner! THANK YOU TRAVEL GODS!
The website allows you to search from your desired destination to ‘everywhere’. That’s right…EVERYWHERE! At the same time, getting you the cheapest deal available by comparing 1000’s of flights in seconds!
The World At Your Fingertips
You don’t even need to know dates you want to go. Especially if you just want to have something on the not too distant horizon. Simply click the ‘depart’ date and select ‘whole month’.
You can even select ‘cheapest month’!

For this example I have selected Spain. Flights for September start from an amazing £42 return! Just tap the place you desire. You then get an option of WHERE in the country you would like to go
Now, all you need to do is find the best flights for the best price! Click on your place of interest and you will be met with the image below. This allows you to click and select from each available day of the month. Look for the green prices and you will be on to a winner. However, sometimes it really is worth paying a little more for better time flights. Especially when your paying so little for the flight in the first place. Leaving room for ‘luxury’ flight times, that won’t make you feel wrecked after being up since 4am!
Window Shop
Remember… it’s not always best to compromise comfortable times to save a few £€$¥. Filter through the times of the flights and pick what suits you best. Initially, you will remember that my initial price for Barcelona was £42. So £57 isn’t far off. Please note the symbol on the right side of the price. Some have two little tickets. This means you must purchase two tickets to get that price.
The beauty of Skyscanner is that if those times don’t suit you, just go through the list of countries again and pick and choose what’s best for your country craving! I ‘window shop’ on skyscanner all the time. So just keep your eyes open.
Can I Trust Booking Via A 3rd Party Website?
I have booked ENDLESS flights via Skyscanner to all over the world. From £16 flights to Oslo, Norway; all the way up to £530 to Bangkok. Just last year I managed to find return flights to Bulgaria for around £50 on an impulse ‘window shop’ while having a beer with a friend in a pub. You really don’t need to be sat at a computer at home to do it. The mobile version of the website is perfectly fine and works really well. So now there is no excuses why you can’t book a flight for two weeks time while having a beer on a Tuesday night!
Protect Your Private Parts!
Ever noticed when looking at flights/ holidays/ hotels that after looking for days the prices seen to keep rising? Or how suddenly, that hotel you just saw is now on your Insta feed as a sponsored post?
This is due to companies collecting you cookies while browsing! That’s supply and demand! You want it…it’s gunna cost ya!
When searching any of the above, always remember this TOP TIP. ALWAYS browse in a private window or delete cookies/cache in settings once you have been searching for a while. Regardless of whether your IOS or Android, all devices have private browsing or incognito mode. USE IT!
